Ricardo James
Founder and Senior Music Educator

Hi there, call me Rick! I've been a professional musician for most of my life, so I will try to be brief in my bio.  I was first introduced to the trumpet by my Father, who occasionally accompanied the music ministry in his church. After graduating high school, I decided to study Music and Jazz Studies. As a professional trumpeter, I've shared the stage with many notable artists/groups and written original scoring for major productions.  Landing in DC in 2013, I decided to focus my love and passion for music to teaching. My focus is providing music education to early childhood and secondary school students.  Check out some of my students, and favorite music moments on our social media page!

Greetings! My passion is activism through art. I first started out as a flutist, and now continue to perform on stage through acting and poetry. My academic background is in Social and Political Science. I wholeheartedly believe in Windnotes and its ability to mobilize an art-forward community. As such, I'm often making new friends and working to grow the community to support the Windnotes mission.
